What is a Hearing Evaluation?

A hearing evaluation is the initial step to understanding your hearing problem. From the evaluation, we can determine what type of hearing loss is present and its severity. The evaluation tests allow us to hone in on your personalized treatment plan to a solution.

What Tests Will Be Completed?

The particular types of tests conducted will be determined based on your age, and current hearing status. The test will help articulate the degree, type of hearing loss, and condition of the ear canal and middle ear. It is the first step in understanding the extent and impact of the identifying hearing loss and learning how to correct it to improve your quality of life.

Types of test include:

Air Conduction Testing

Bone Conduction Testing

Speech Testing

Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions (DPOAE) Testing

Tympanometry or Acoustic Immittance Testing

What Happens After the Evaluation?

Expect the evaluation to last approximately 20-40 minutes. After the evaluation is complete, we will spend time discussing your results as well as our recommendations for further action.
