Choosing the Appropriate Hearing Aids

The right hearing aid will meet your listening needs and operational requirements.  To determine your listening needs, think about the situations where you don’t hear well and would like to alleviate the problem.  For example, is it only hearing the TV better or is it also hearing when in background noise and perhaps sometimes on the phone?  The more specific your answer is, the better suited your level of hearing aid technology will be to give you the assistance you want.

Operational requirements refers to the adjustments to the hearing aid you are willing and able to make   and the adjustments you want the hearing aid to perform automatically.  These adjustments serve to optimize performance as listening conditions change.  When you think about your requirements, also consider the manner in which you want to make these adjustments.  Will you touch a control on the hearing aid(s) or use a remote control and not have to reach up to the devices?
